Boron is a trace element required by most commoly grown vegetables. The best source is to use a fertilizer such as 3-15-6 bo .3, or 12-24-16 bo .8. Care must be taken in using it, in large amounts it is harmful to plants. Boron becomes less available to plants as the soil ph rises, 6.5 or higher. If you use one of the above mentioned fertilizers at planting time, plants will receive the required amouts of boron, fertilizer rates will depend upon the crop being grown and soil fertility. Rutabags, beets, Broccoli, Cauliflower, and brussel sprouts require boron.
