After flowering, I kept watering it, but the foliage died back on its own. I watered it occasionally and planted it outside in the garden in early June. It lay dormant for the summer, but by late August, it started to send up new shoots. It survived the winter and picked up growing in the spring and bloomed. It is on schedule with the rest of the lillies. I would suggest that you plant the lily outside at your planting time and let it adjust on its own to the growing schedule. Hope this was helpful.
