Posted by William Grant on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 7:42 pm ASTYour in my area so its best to wait until May 24.You local nursery will sell the p[lants that are suited for you.If you want a plant that blooms all summer then get annuals and if you want a plant that grow year after year then get perennials.Just go and look them over and pick out what you like and remember short in front talls in back. Posted by Natalie on Friday, March 7, 2008 3:15 pm ASTIf your at a new house I would wait for a bit to see what areas of the yard attract certain kinds of use. If you already know this then plan your gardens for what the area is used for, ie: if it's near a deck or a seating area, look for a variety of plants based on bloom times (cover all months) and have attractive flowers and scents. If it's a spot that dosen't get used much use larger specimens with obvious foliage with hot coloured blooms. Also sneak a peak at your neighbours gardens, lets you know what performs and if you like it's look. The internet can be your best friend for image searches on gardens, have fun!

Posted by Cherie on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 8:17 am ADTI just started gardening last year, so I know how overcome you may be feeling right now. I wanted my first gardening experience to be a "blooming" success (sorry for the bad pun-lol) So here's my tip: HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! I put on my big ole hat, plugged in my MP3, and got my hands dirty...I LOVE IT!!! My garden wouldn't grace the front page of a magazine or catalogue but IT MADE ME FEEL GOOD! This site is also full of great info and other people(whose green thumb is much greener and bigger than mine) were always a great help (Gardeners' Forum, garden centers, nurseries) HAVE FUN :)
