Fritillaria imperialis (F)

Crown Imperial. These tall, dramatic plants grow in full sun or part shade and must have very well-drained soil. They are regal behind clumps of white daffodils. A bit of lime added to the soil is beneficial. A 1 inch layer of sand in the bottom of each hole will lessen the chance of rot. Plant very deep at least 10 inches to the base of the bulb. Plant in raised beds or very well drained soil or these bulbs will rot.
