    I have several 5 year old shrubs that are getting very woody at the bottom,can i can them back to the ground and still get new growth ?

      Yes, but don't cut the whole thing back at once. Do it in stages over a few years.

      when is the best time to prune variegated weigela and the only time it blooms is in late spring
