  • last year's seeds

Shame on me. I didn't use packages of lettuce, spinach and sunflowers last year and just found them. Okay to try planting them this year? Do they just not germinate or do they turn out like mutants, or what? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Go ahead and plant them Karen. As long as they were kept dry they will be fine. If the packages look like they were wet or moist during the winter the seeds may be damaged. Your germination rates will be a little lower is all.

Terrific! Thank you, Melissa. I found them in my desk drawer, so there isn't any problem with wondering if they got damp. I found an heirloom reddish colored sunflower, so I really wanted to try the seeds out. This'll "learn" me to be more organised!
