I am a newbie gardener and my wife and I bought some tomato plants from the local grocery store. The plants are very congested ( I think due to the small pots they let over grow) Is there anything I can do to fix the plants so they will start growing upwards instead of remain the clump they currently are? I would show pictures if I could on here.

Hello Newbie! It could be that you purchased a determinate type, that doesn't grow like a vine (indeterminate) type. What is the variety name?

Yes, you've got yourself a miniature type of tomato. It will only reach about a foot tall and is usually good for containers or very small paces.
