Can any tell us why our tree blooms well produces lots of fruit ,then the leaves turn yellow drop steadily all summer then an orange furry substance forms all overthe berries? Thank you.

According to the book I have, the hawthorn is prone to fungous leaf spot. The leaves get covered with reddish-brown spots which turn yellow, then fall off. Then there's a lace bug which can turn the leaves yellow. It doesn't say anything about the fruit, though, so I don't know if either of these is your problem. (Both problems require spraying to get rid of them.) If I find out more, I'll let you know.

I planted a hawthorne tree 4 years ago and it has hardly growen at all. Healthy & flowers in the late Spring. Sun for half the day. Was about 6 feet tall when I planted it and it still is. I fertilize Spring and Fall.
