Posted by Marie on Saturday, February 16, 2002 5:11 PM ASTHow do you stop squirrels from eating the sunflower heads? We planted some, which grew nice and high but we were not able to enjoy them for very long before the squirrels started to eat them.

Posted by Joanie on Sunday, March 17, 2002 5:01 PM ASTSunflower seeds are a treat for the squirrels, you must be planting the sunflower with the edible seeds, try planting some that are not edible, I doubt if there is anyway you would keep squirrels from getting the edible seeds, but many of the prettiest sunflowers do not have edible seeds.
