These showy, poppy-like flowers in jewel-like colours are beautiful in the late spring garden among bleeding hearts, peonies and iris. Soak the tubers in water the night before planting. Add some peat moss to each planting hole. Some rootlets should be visible on the bottom of each tuber; but if they are not evident, plant the tuber on its side. Space 4" apart and 2"-3" deep in groups of at least 6 tubers, after all risk of frost has passed. They need moist, rich soil and part shade.
