Plant in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. In areas with hot summers plant in partial shade. Space 12-18 inches apart. In cold climates, mulch after the ground has frozen to control heaving of the roots. Divide in spring when bloom diminishes and crown becomes woody, usually every 4-5 years. Grows 12-30 inches tall. Flowers spring to summer.
