Flowering on leafless stalks, they look best in groups of 4 or more towards the back of the border so that plants in front soften the appearance of the bare stems. Plant them 4" deep and 6"-8" apart in full sun or part shade after last frost.
North of Zone 5, grow them in pots (3 bulbs to a 12" container). Move the pots indoors for the winter, withhold water and allow the bulbs to go dormant.
