Hardy Zone 6

Easy to grow in full sun to light shade with average to rich, well-drained soil. Plant bulbs outdoors in fall, setting them at a depth of 4 inches. Ornitholgalum nutans are suitable for naturalizing in grass, along shrub borders, and other semi-wild areas. Abundant offsets are fast spreading, bordering on the invasive. Below zone 6, look for a south facing, warm and sheltered area with well-drained soil and mulch heavily in late fall. Below zone 5, plant outdoors in June, or grow them in containers. Overwinter the plants by either digging the bulbs as they go dormant in fall, or drying out containers and storing them in a cool, dry spot. Propagate by separating the offsets in fall or early spring.
