Primula hybrid 'Francesca' (S)
General Description:
Rosettes of ovate to broadly ovate leaves form at the base of the plant. Leaves may be evergreen or semi-evergreen. Umbels of up to 20 flowers appear above slender stems.
Cultivation:
Plant in full sun to part shade in moderately fertile, moist but well drained, humus type soil. Neutral to acidic peat-type soil is acceptable. Indoors, place in a cool location. Plant in a soil mix of: 4 parts soil based potting soil, 1 part sand or grit, 1 part leaf mold or peat.
Propagation:
Sow seed on the soil surface as soon as it is ripe or in late winter/ early spring. Divide crowns in early spring. Root basil cuttings or offsets in autumn or early spring. Take cuttings when plant is dormant in winter.
Pests & Disease:
Aphids, spidermites, weevils, slugs, grey mold, root rot, rust, and leaf spot may cause problems.
