This is a Native American wildflower. To some, the flowers have the pleasant smell of grape juice! Plant with crowns just below soil surface, 12" apart in full sun to part shade. Grow in average, moist, well drained soil with lots of organic matter. Avoid poorly drained soils that hold water in the spring. Blooms in late spring. No serious insect or disease problems. Foliage disappears and plant goes dormant in summer. Perfect under trees or in woodland plantings. Plants may be divided every 3-5 years after flowering.
