Hardy in zones 3-9.

Mertensia

Plant in acid, humus-rich soil in partial to full shade. Plant the rhizome horizontally about 1" below the soil surface, about 18" apart. The foliage dies back in the heat of the summer.

Grows 12-24" tall. Flowers late spring to early summer. May be divided after 3 years during the summer before all of the leaves disappear. Often self-seeds and young plants are easy to move in spring.
