Echinocactus grusonii 'Golden Barrel'
General Description:
Spherical, eventually becoming elongated cactus with a bright green stem bearing 20-40 sharply angled ribs. Spines are deep golden yellow; 8-10 radial spines surround 3-5 central spines.
Cultivation:
Pot in standard cactus potting mix and place in full light. From mid spring to early autumn, water freely and apply a half strength, balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks. Keep totally dry for the remainder of the year. Propagation:
Sow seed at 21ºC in spring.
Pests & Disease:
Basal stem rot, soft rot and mealy bugs are common on small plants.
