Perennial. Hardy in Zones 6-9
Also known as Sand love grass. Start seed indoors 6-8 weeks before planting out. Cover with soil or vermiculite and keep warm at 22-27°C (72-80°F). Light is not required for germination. Keep humidiity high until seedlings appear, covering with a humidome or plastic cover is beneficial. When seedlings appear, supply light. Plant out after last frost date about 3-4 feet apart, into average, dry to medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun. Prefers sandy, fertile soil. Tolerates hot, dry sites. Will tolerate some shade (e.g., 1/4 day), but does poorly and will not flower well in too much shade. Cut back to ground in early spring before new growth appears. Grow as a specimaen plant or in mixed perennial borders.
