Salvia lyrata
Perennial. Hardy in zones 5-8.
Start seed inside 6-8 weeks before planting outside. Germinate at 20°C (68°F), provide light and do not cover seed. Just press seed into soil surface. Will usually germinate in 1-3 weeks. Do not over-water and use a fungicide if you notice problems with 'damping off'. Transplant after last frost or earlier if you wish to harden the plant off. Grows 8-10" high. Space 12" apart in a part shade to full sun (in cooler climates with mulched, moist soil) well-drained location. May be divided every 3-4 years in spring.
