Start indoors 6-8 weeks before transplanting. Do not cover seed, provide light and keep cool at 13-18°C (55-65°F). Watch out for damping off. A fungicidal drench might be helpful to prevent damping off. May also be direct seeded after last frost. Transplant after last frost into a full sun location, 10-12 inches apart. If your summers are very hot provide midday shade. Prefers a moist and fertile soil. Water and fertilize regularly. Provide good air circulation.
