Dogwood
Cornus alba
Zones 3-9
Dogwood is easy to grow, will do well in a wide range of soils and will tolerate damp cold sites. Though they don't mind shade, those grown for winter colour should be planted in a sunny location. One of the most durable shrubs for pruning, it can be used as a hedge and drastically cut back without doing damage. Use the cut brances in flower arrangements and as holiday decor. Grows 8-10 feet high. Prefers full sun to part shade.
