Crown Imperials
Exotic and dramatic, the "Crown Imperial" is a stately plant growing 30-36" tall. Planted in groups, they stand nobly above the smaller flowers of the April garden and are sensational with daffodils. The showy clusters of pendent, bell-shaped flowers are topped with tufts of green leaves; the tall stiff stems rise from lush, handsome foliage. The foliage dies back quickly after flowering. Fritillarias are easy to grow in full sun if the soil is well-drained, and they will last for years when undisturbed. An outstanding plant in areas where deer are a problem - the odor repels them. Flowers in mid-Spring. We ship top size bulbs, 20-22 cm in circumference.
Hardy in zones 5-9.
