Fruits, Berries & Vegetables
We have put together an assortment of the most popular fruits and vegetables for you to grow in your own back yard. Be healthy, save some money and grow your own fruits, berries and vegetables! Zones 3-8.
Apple Trees
Crisp juicy apples right in your back yard. The varieties that we have selected are scab resistant, making them much easier to look after. For best results, two varieties should be planted. We are offering 1 year whips grafted onto hardy rootstock. ¾ sized trees should mature to about 15-18 feet.
Asparagus
Blackberry
Blueberry
High-bush blueberries with high yields in short season areas. Bushes will grow to about 3-4 feet tall. Requires pollination so it is necessary to purchase two different varieties. Hardy to zone 4. Requires acidic soil. We ship 1 liter pots. Begins producing fruit in third year.
Currant
Gooseberry
Grapes
A selection of hardy grapes offering a wide range of uses from sweet table grapes to delicious grape jelly and delectable home made wine. Although these grapes are hardy, areas that are susceptible to late frosts should be avoided. Planting more than one type will improve your harvest. Bears fruit in 3-4 years. Zone 3.
Hardy Cherries
Beautiful, bright red cherries, ideal for home made cherry pie. These exciting new bush cherries, developed by the University of Saskatchewan after 50 years of breeding work, are perfect for the home gardener. They are very hardy (zone 3), disease resistant and their bush shape is very suitable for the garden. They are heavy yeilding, producing up to 10-15 kg per plant. With proper care they should begin to bear fruit in 3 years, with full maturity (7-8 feet) in 5-6 years. These are tart cherries, ideal for cooking, but are also sweet enough for fresh eating. We offer three varieties, all are one year old plants in 1 litre pots. All are self-pollinating, but better results are obtained when two varieties are planted.
Haskap
Also called honeyberries. Hardier than high-bush blueberries. Ripens early, in mid-June and perfect for fresh eating or any recipe where blueberries are used. Requires a pollinator variety; one pollinator is sufficient for up to 5 plants. Will begin bearing fruit in 2-3 years.
Kiwi
Raspberry
Rhubarb
Strawberry
The berry crop that no garden should be without. Nothing compares to the flavour of the first strawberries picked fresh out of the garden. We offer a selection of varieties, which ensure a long harvest. Produces fruit in second year. Strawberries are planted 12-18" apart, in rows 4 feet apart and are hardy to zone 2 if covered. No. 1 sized plants.
