Blue False Indigo
Baptisia australis
This incredible plant won the 2010 Perennial of the Year Award and for good reason! The charming pea-like flowers are a vivid royal-purple and although they have a delicate air, they are incredibly resilient. What we love most about Blue False Indigo though, is the foliage. The greyish leaves look similar to Eucalytpus. The waxy foliage is tough as nails, even through drought, and adds an unexpected texture in a mixed perennial bed. No. 1 size root.
