Posted by Bob Murray on Friday, April 6, 2001 10:15 pm ADTI put my bulbs concave side up in a flat with a soiless mix (very moist) and I lightly cover them with the mix and the place them in a bright warm place but not in direct sunlight (temp 70-75 F) I keep the mix moist but not soggy,in a few weeks you will see shoots appear and when these are a couple of inches long carefully lift the bulb out of the mix and transplant to a 4 or 5 inch pot again with the soiless mix this time covering these shoots over with the mix for a depth of about 1/2" and again keep the mix moist every day and soon the shoots emerge and become the leaves ..keep growing in-indirect sunlight and after all danger of frost is gone transplant to your outside location..I use peat pots for mine..before you plant outside gradually introduce them to the outside air for a few hours each day ,gradually giving them a longer time each day..and when watering inside I don,t get water on the leaves...sounds like a lot of work but it really isn,t and well worth it..in the fall after the first frost dig them out cut the foliage off and store them in a cool dry dark location in a light dry peat and around mid to end feb start it all over again..they get better every year...hope this helps..Bob
