Hello everyone. This is my first time on this site. Does anyone ever tried to divide Delphiniums? I heard that the best way to propagate is by basal cutting. I also heard about root dividing. Which one is easiest or best? Thanks!

I planted delphinium as seeds about 8 years ago.I've always divided it with my shovel.I would recommend this method. This 8 year old plant has been divided at least 3 times . I believe this delphinium is a "Pacific Giant".

I have had good luck growing them in my vegetable garden from seeds and then transplanted them the following year, when they then bloomed. In fact, some have seeded themselves. I have 2 gardens , one in damp, cool, Saint John and the other in a warmer, dryer location inland on the Saint John River. The river location is where the delphiniums do best. Jane
