  • Are gourds edible?

Not that I want to eat them, but this year we've had a bountiful harvest of ornamental gourds. I was asked if they are edible, or tasty, and I honestly don't know? I'm sure they are edible, but are they enjoyable, and are they eaten?

I don't know what variety you have, but one year we grew ITALIAN EDIBLE GOURDS. They grew about 3' long. Snakey-looking things with thin shells. We tried frying them when they were young like summer squash, NASTY. Now we just let a couple of vines run up a tree to amuse the neighbor kids. They think they're giant cucumbers. LISA
