Canna bulbs need to come out before they freeze. store in cool dark place-old basement. amarilis need to come out befor they freeze also. store in cool dark place for about 8 to 10 weeks. they need to rest before they will bloom again. bring out start to water give them good warm light. they should show a bloom in not very long.

I live in South Florida and my Amarilis plants have doubled and in some cases tripled in number. Some have grown 4 feet high sporting 15 or more thick healthy leaves. Yet they do not flower. This winter can I shock them into blooming with ice as I have been told by neighbors and friends (Who by the way have no Amarilis). Thanks

My canna lilies have multiplied to such an extent that I am hoping that it's possible to mulch most of them with 4-5 inches of oak leaves and leave them in the ground. I live on Long Island (zone 6). Has anyone had descent survival for cannas using heavy mulching on top of the cut back plants?

I purchased an amaryllis bulb kit. it states you need to prepare the soil first but does not tell what to do. how do I start?
