Depending on where you are in the climate zones, but in the Montreal area, now is good. Bleeding heart dies back early in September, as it blooms so early in the spring. As long as the root has some time to get established in the fall before the hard frosts and deep freeze, it should be okay. If in doubt of the cold, early in the spring as soon as the shoots appear above the ground is okay. It could affect next summer's blooms a little, but bleeding heart is pretty tough plant.
