I am a new gardener and was wonder if seeds will keep from one year to the next. Some of the packages come with hundreds of seeds and I am not going to use them all in one year. Can I use them the next year or do I have to buy new?

Seed viability varies greatly. Some seeds will still produce successfully many years after purchase, unfortunately, others will not. Storage is the key! Leftover seeds must be stored in a cool, dark and dry location...a drawer or closet is fine. By the way, I've been using plastic 35mm film containers for years to store my extra seeds...they are unbeatable! (Don't forget to label them.) If you're not a photographer, or don't know one, visit your local photo shop...they usually have a few extras in the recycle bin looking for a new lease on life! REDUCE! REUSE! RECYCLE! One last thing...feel free to share your extra seeds with friends and neighbours...they'll love you for it! HAPPY GARDENING!
