Posted by Cathy Pulliam on Monday, May 28, 2007 12:43 pm ADTFor years I have battled with finches picking at the stem of my scaveola (fan flower) until the entire branch dies. They also pick off the flowers. Now they have started on the Salvia flowers I have planted. How can I prevent this destruction? I had a bird feeder nearby one year hoping they would feed on "their" food instead of my favorite flower, but it did not work. HELP!

Perhaps putting a shiny windmill(children's toy) near the plants would help. Johanna
