Posted by sharon simon on Sunday, June 24, 2007 12:31 am ADTi have a evans cherry tree Ive had it for 5 years and it is healthy and produces alot of fruit .My question is ive noticed a couple of real healthy new trees growing under it , does anyone know if this tree suckers and can I dig up and transplant the suckers?Thankyou and good gardening. Posted by chris paulusma on Sunday, July 22, 2007 5:01 pm ADTYes, you can remove the suckers gently in the spring, preferrably in the dormant stage and transplant. It is best to force them in pots using a light organic mix with plenty of compost. Wait until roots have reached the outside of the pot before transferring to the ground. This may take a few months, but if you use a pot that is not too large ie. one that just fits the new stem and the amount of root you dig up, you should have new cherry trees in mid to late summer.

It's first winter the dog took a liking to it and chewed it right down to the base. It has rebounded well, but I have never seen a blossom on it, let alone a cherry! Does it grow on its own root or is it a grafted plant? Do I have to start over?
