Some tops are off my Balloon Flower and other stems are wilted and I can very easily pull the wilted stem out of the ground. Is it a slug problem? What can I use?

I have yet to have problems with my balloon flower, but it has just gotten its first flower to date. However, I do have (can't recall the name right now) one of the grassy looking flowers that the frogs seem to adore! I have noticed where something has been boring holes around the flowers planted in this area, and frogs is all I have seen to date. I do have a Canna that the leaves are being eaten, but we have a LOT of worms, caterpillars, etc...The grassy type flower is dying, which I believe is due to the frogs, but I will leave them be and hope it will come back strong next year.
