I need some help re pruning my bushes. I haven't done this and they are about five years old, very sturdy, but the branches are all growing all over the place and some even horizontally. Should I prune hard this year? The birds had started eating the unripe currants before I put my netting over. Is this normal and is there any other insect/bug which likes currants? What is it that is eating the leaves? Today when I was picking, I noticed that some of the leaves had been eaten and I also saw a long, (about 2") yellow caterpillar. Could this be the culprit? Any advice gratefully received!
