Asian Lilies are quite different from Oriental Lilies. Asian lilies usually bloom in mid summer and multiply fairly rapidly, most don't have a lot of scent. Oriental lilies are beautiful and generally have a lot of perfume but are more difficult to grow and don't tend to mulitply. They generally bloom later (August). I would suggest that you start with Asian Lilies...They come in various heights. Another easy to grow lily would be the Trumpet Lilies but they are mostly quite tall and sometimes need staking, also highly perfumed in many cases.

Just be carefull where you plant these plants...it seems it is another bulb that the squirrels LOVE to eat. Try placing some cayenne pepper around the base of the planted bulbs..

After they have bloomed , both types, do they have to be cut down straight away?? They look so messy!

The pods shone in the the moonlight and finally unfolded with an accompanying scent. I swould like to move the loction though for the orange centers stain when brushed by. Am I able to do this this autumn?
