  • Apple trees not flowering

I have two apple tree that are getting fewer and fewer blossoms every year. The blossoms that do appear are getting pollinated and produce fruit. One tree only produced a half dozen flowers, I have heard that grass around the base may be the problem, is there anything else that can cause this? Or any suggestion to get them to bloom. Thanks

Do you know what variety of apple tree they are? Where are they located and what are the growing conditions? What Zone are you located in? Improper pruning methods and timing are often the cause of reduced flowering. Have you pruned your trees? And at what time of year?

Hi, I'm zone 3-4 depending on the year, in the chinook zone in Alberta. The trees are Norlands I think. And I have never pruned them, they have been in for several years and are healthy and growing. Thanks
