Hi Sherrill I have had my grow lights for 4 years now and they are still working. I have the 4'bulbs. I hope this helps as they were each $4-$5. Good Luck and happy gardening.

I have been using grow lights about 16 years. Generally the tubes need to be replaced every 2 -3 years. Flourescent tubes lose light intensity as thet age, also it is a good idea to clean the tubes and reflectors at the start of the season as dust etc. reduces light transmission. 24" tubes (F20 Daylight) can be purchased at Home Depot.

janet, tell your friend the tomatoes would probably require a lot less nitrogen after they have set if any, also they require a lot of calcium one table spoon in luke warm water (1 gl) three times a season should do
