I need the right info for the rave of the wave petunia. on the website there seems to be conflicting info. Do I pinch off and fertilize them and how far apart do i plant them in an edging border/hanging basket? Thanks, ss

For your Wave petunias: ~ Fertilize every 2 weeks with 10-20-10 ~ Space plants 12-18 inches apart in a flower boarder ~ Plant 1, 2 or 3 plants in a 10" (or larger) hanging basket (one plant will fill in slower than 3 plants) For your Tidal Wave Petunias (taller than Waves) ~ Fertilize every 2 weeks with 10-20-10 ~ Space plants 12-18 inches apart in a flower boarder (closer spacing will force the plants to grow taller) ~ Plant 1-3 plants in a 10" (or larger) hanging basket ~ Pinch all plants if they become leggy

What does pinching the plant mean, how do we pinch plants and why is it necessary?

Pinching simply means to cut back a long stem, so that the plant doesn't become leggy. Leggy means instead of having several short stems each producing flowers, you only have one very long stem. When you remove the growing tip of a stem either with scissors or by snapping it off with your hand, the plant will now produce two growing tips at this point, which will result in a bushier and more prolific plant.
