I'm a resident of Tucson, AZ and I have a really bad weed problem. Well, my house's yard has little plants other than weeds, a few vines in a corner and whatnot. Normally I'd have no problem with just hoeing down the weeds every so often but here's the catch: the floor is covered in rocks. Large rocks. Rocks I can't really use a hoe on. I'm thinking of moving the rocks, covering the patch with weed-proof tarp, and moving the rocks back on but that would be a relatively hard job and I'm not even sure if I'm going to be living here for that long. Assuming I used a weed waker to take off all but say an inch of the weeds, are there any effective solutions other than tarping in which I could keep the weeds from growing. I'm not really big on sprays considering Tucson has pretty bad water quality in their underground water without me putting additional chemicals into it. I'd be fine with doing something weekly or biweekly assuming it doesn't take too long of a time.
