I was given a Mathilda Gutges hydrangea for Easter, and it was blooming when bought at a local supermarket. I live in zone 5b and I was wondering if this plant would survive if I planted it outside. We have very snowy winters.

I have quite a few hydrangeas in my yard. I prune them in the fall because we have a HUGE snow load (20 feet is about average) Right now the snow is just coming off the plants and the hydrangeas already have some new growth on them. Tough little devils.
