  • Damaged bur oak tree

Last spring we planed a small bur oak tree and it was growing very well until an animal of some sort chewed it in the fall and there was about a foot of it left in the ground. We assumed it was a goner til this spring when new buds started for form. Is it possible that this small bit left over will still grow into a tree?

Hi Cathy. Your oak will be fine. May be a bit crooked for a while but will straighten out. Let it grow and then trim and possibly steak and tie.
