I bought and planted a tuber begonia from Vesey's which was healthy and growing beautifully. It sent up two shoots and was starting to flower. It was about 6 inches tall. Unfortunately, I didn't stake it while it was young, and a strong wind one night broke the stems off level to the soil. I left it alone for about 4 weeks, but it doesn't show signs of growing. I'm wondering what to do with the tuber? Should I leave it in the ground to sprout again? It's July here now in zone 5b. We had a late spring and flowering seems to be delayed here in NL. I was planning to dig it up the fall, and plant again this spring. Is it too warm or early to store till next year. Did I kill it?

If it hasn't shown any signs of growing in 4 weeks, it may not grow this season. You have nothing to lose by trying to save the tuber. Try allowing the soil to slowly dry out and then lift the tuber. If it's nice and firm you may be able to store it over winter.
