I have 3 varigated dogwood bushes that are growing a bit too big and need to be pruned but I'm wondering when is the best time to do this.

I bought one this spring, it is variagated, has grown quite and bit and doing great in full sun, however now the leaves are appear to be droping. Any ideas? Does it need to be pruned already perhaps? I do water it well everyday, thought maybe it was to much watering. thank you!

I have a dusty black with spots on the bottom leaves of my dogwood bush. It's growing quite well, especially after pruning but it's just the bottom leaves but working it's way up. Could this be a fungus?
