Hi. I bought a house last year with some existing flower gardens around the property. I let it go for a full year to see what I had. My question...how would I go about digging up the daffodils and tulips, and other flowers that are there currently, and re-plant them in different areas. I'm thinking I'd like to store the bulbs (labelled), work on the soil and isolate the other flowers as they bloom, and re-plant in the fall for next year...can I dig up the bulbs, and store them? Any answers would be appreciated by this gardener wanna-be. I live in New Brunswick, on the beautiful Bay of Fundy.

Hi: You can certainly dig up the spring bulbs and replant in the fall. They may be deep so be careful not to slice them up when digging - pitch fork gently pushed in and tipped out is best. Let me dry really well in the sun before storing in paper bags - watch the squirrels they will steal them. Replant to as similar depth in late fall where you want them. Happy gardening. I love the idea of having surprises come up in a mature garden - Cynthia.
