I have little green worms that totally de-foliate my columbine every year, I've tried spraying them with soap and water which works for about a day, is their any thing more permanent.

IF soap and water is working, then you could just keep doing it over and over again, at least once a week. Eventually you will eradicate the population. Check to see if they are rolling themselves up in the leaves, you may be missing some of them with the soap and water. Hand-picking them off the plants is gross, but definitely the most effective way to get rid of them.

I had that problem one year and I just picked them off as much as I could .... they didn't come back the next year.
