Posted by Helle Degagne on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 7:08 PM ADTI have Hostas and Astilbe in a more shady area and they are very showy. The Astilbe gets beautiful flowers in pink, red and purple. I also think Goats beard does very well and has really nice long stems of white flowers.

Posted by Natasha on Thursday, October 15, 2009 9:22 AM ADTHell Kathie, I have had to adapt to shade gardening many times over. Astilbe, hostas and Goats Beard are great. Some other plants that do well with little sun are... Perennials: Heuchera (Coral Bells), Bleeding Heart, ferns, hardy geraniums, Pulmonaria, Foxglove, Virginia Blue Bells (Mertensia), Primula, Toad Lily (Tricyrtis), Epimedium. Bulbs: Daffodils, Crocus, Wood Hyacinths
