  • When to plant hollyhocks?

Posted by Chuck on Thursday, July 26, 2001 9:23 AM ADT

The planting guide says to plants hollyhock seeds in the spring or fall but I wonder if it's okay to plant them right now either in the garden or in trays for transplanting early in the fall. Would they benefit from the extra growing time or would that disrupt their cycle?

Check out the neighbour's hollyhocks, for your area, and when they start to "throw" seeds, then take some of them, or ones you have purchased and plant them. I would not start them indoors. Personally, I think it is a little early for seeding. In my area, Montreal, my hollyhocks have not started to go to seed, as yet.

I bought seed today for planting hollyhocks. Can I start planting them indoors? Need some tips as this is my first time planting anything indoors. Thank you.

I have seeds and was going to plant them now for next season - is it too early to do so? I live in Alberta.
