This miniature amaryllis is a very rewarding container plant and thrives in average house temperatures. Grow single bulbs in a pot no more than 2" wider than the bulb itself. Set bulb so it is half exposed above the soil. Vallota blooms best when bulbs are crowded. Place the pots where they will receive at least 4 hours of direct sun daily. Water sparingly until foliage appears, then keep moist and feed monthly, until fall. The foliage is nearly evergreen; rest the bulb between flowering by giving less water. The pots may be moved to the terrace or patio during the summer.
