Echivaria 'Hen and Chicks'
General Description:
Rosette form with smooth, gray-green leaves. May require more water and fertilizer than other succulents. If plants become “leggy” cut off the growing tip and re-root in moist potting soil.
Cultivation:
Pot up in standard cactus potting mix. Place in full light. Water moderately and apply a balanced liquid fertilizer during the summer months (June, July, August). Water sparingly in winter, keeping the soil just moist. Optional:
place plants outdoors during frost free months.
Propagation:
Sow seeds at 16-19ºC as soon as the seeds are ripe. Root stem or leaf cuttings in late spring or separate and root offsets in spring.
Pests & Disease:
Mealy bugs, soft rot, leaf and stem rot caused by different types of fungi, often exaggerated by over-watering.
