Start inside 8-10 weeks before last frost. Do not cover seed, provide light and warmth of 21-24°C (70-75°F). Watch out for damping off. A fungicidal drench to prevent damping off might be helpful. Transplant after last frost in to a full sun location, 6-12 inches apart. Pinch out growing tip when plants are 6 inches tall. Water, fertilize and dead-head regularly. The flowers of S. hormonium and S. farinacea dry beautifully.
